Wine 11.18 and Wine-Staging 11.18 Released

Experimental release of an open implementation of the Win32 API – Wine 11.18 has been published. Since the release of version 11.17, 44 bug reports have been closed and 380 changes have been implemented.

The most significant changes in Wine 11.18 include:

  • The NT kernel simulation layer now implements various functions required for proper support of device drivers.
  • The header files provided for the C language have been corrected to enhance compatibility.
  • Bug reports affecting the operation of applications like QuickTime 2.x, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express Photos, and SlingPlayer 1.5 have been resolved.
  • Error reports impacting the operation of games such as Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Super Meat Boy, Screamer 4×4 1.2, and others have also been addressed.

A separately formed release of Wine Staging 11.18 has been announced. Wine Staging offers extended Wine builds with incomplete or risky patches not yet ready for integration into the main Wine branch. With 273 additional patches, Wine Staging now synchronizes with Wine 11.18 codebase and updates the vkd3d code. One of the patches has been moved to the main Wine to convert the d3d10_1shader.h header file to the idl format.

Furthermore, new patches in Wine Staging have been added to convert YV12 color representation to RGB in the rendering code and to conduct checks on executable files for the WoW64 architecture, enabling 32-bit Windows applications to operate on 64-bit Unix systems.
