Arma: Cold War Assault Remastered Code Released

Bohemia Interactive Releases Arma: Cold War Assault Remastered Source Code Under GPLv3 License

The renowned company Bohemia Interactive has made a major announcement by releasing the source code of the tactical shooter “Arma: Cold War Assault Remastered” under the GPLv3 license. This move includes the game engine Poseidon, which forms the backbone of the gameplay experience. In addition to the game code, Bohemia Interactive has also made the network server, network services for mod authors, and a mission editor available to the public.

To enable mod development, Bohemia Interactive recommends the use of the SQS language. Originally published in 2001, the game underwent a re-release on Steam in 2011. The source code has now been modernized to support the C++20 standard, built using CMake and Clang, and offers compatibility with both Windows and Linux platforms, utilizing OpenGL 3.3 for rendering graphics.

Furthermore, game assets such as models, textures, sounds, and missions have been released separately under the APL-SA (Arma Public License Share Alike) license, allowing for non-commercial use and distribution. Players can access the game data by extracting it from the free demo available on Steam, which is compatible with both Windows and Linux systems.
