After four months of development, the April consolidated update of the KDE Gear 26.04 applications developed by the KDE project was presented. The set published includes releases of more than 250 programs, libraries, and plugins. Information about the availability of Live builds of new application releases can be found on this page. New versions of individual applications can be downloaded from the Flathub and SnapCraft directories.
The most notable changes include:
- The file manager Dolphin now provides the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts to call almost all menu items, plugins, and extensions. For example, users can set a keyboard shortcut to quickly change sorting by date or name.
- In the Merkuro application (formerly Kalendar), combining the capabilities of the address book, task manager, and calendar planner, the design of the schedule and event editor has been changed. The interface has been modernized and the information content of data presentation in the calendar planner has been improved KOrganizer.
- In the video editor Kdenlive, various new features have been implemented such as an animated preview of transition effects, support for mirroring to a second monitor, and the ability to import a clip to a specified position via the context menu on the timeline.
- Additionally, automatic generation of sound miniatures, automatic adjustment of the duration of transition effects, and support for simultaneously changing the speed for several clips are now provided in Kdenlive.
- In Audiotube, an application for listening to music from Youtube Music, a new base page has been implemented, which presents a selection of music recommended for listening.
