Recently, the release of the distribution Manjaro Linux 24.1 took place. This distribution is built on the basis of Arch Linux and is oriented towards beginner users. One of the main features of this distribution is the simplified and user-friendly installation process, which supports the automatic detection of hardware and installation of necessary drivers.
Manjaro Linux is offered in the form of a Live assembly with three different graphic environments: KDE (4.1 GB), Gnome (4 GB), and XFCE (3.8 GB), designed for X86_64 architecture and various boards based on ARM processors. Additionally, the community has contributed to the development of additional assemblies with Budgie, Cinnamon, Deepin, LXQt, and i3 desktop environments.
For managing repositories in Manjaro, special tools called Boxit, designed in Git, are used. The distribution follows a rolling release model where updates are continuously included, but new versions undergo a stabilization stage. In addition to its own repositories, Manjaro also supports the use of the AUR (Arch User Repository). Manjaro Linux comes equipped with a graphical installer and interface for system setup.
Key features of this release include:
- Editors based on Gnome have been updated to GNOME 46.5.
- Editors based on KDE have been updated to KDE Plasma 6.1 with KDE applications updated to KDE Gear 08.
- Editors based on XFCE continue to be delivered with XFCE 4.18 version.
