Oracle has announced the release of virtualization system VirtualBox 7.1. Installation packages are now available for Rhel 8/9/10, Fedora 36-42, Opensuse 15.6, Ubuntu 22.04/24.04/24.10, Debian 11/12, MacOS, and Windows.
The main changes include:
- In the graphic interface, global operations have been moved from the loss menu to the side panel located on the left. Tools for virtual machines are now located in separate tabs above the right panel.
- Improvements have been made to pages with settings in the graphic interface. Control of LED indicators on the keyboard has been enhanced, and Io-Apic has been removed from ARM VM settings.
- Support for hardware acceleration of video decoding has been added for hosts based on Linux.

- Capabilities for nested virtualization on Intel CPUs have been optimized.
- Added support for Windows systems using processors based on ARM architecture.
- Guest systems with Windows 11 for ARM architecture can now be launched. A new “Windows 11/ARM” OS type has been implemented in the guest system additions.
