Google Fights Anonymity: Messages Declassify Unknown Numbers

Google is working on a new feature for its “message” application that will allow users to see the name of the sender, even if their number is not saved in contacts. This development was discovered through an analysis of the APK of the latest beta version of the application (source: Android Authority).

The feature will be activated if the sender has enabled the “Project Detection” function. When a user receives a message from an unknown number, the sender’s name will be displayed in the message notification.

Currently, users can control the profile detection settings through the Google account interface, and Google has provided Guideline Detection Forms for reference.

While some beta testers have already had access to the feature of seeing the sender’s name with unknown numbers, the new innovation is that now names will be directly displayed in message notifications.

This update will provide users with more context and information about the sender in their Android notification settings.
