Fedora 41 Proposes Official Assembly with Composite Manager Miracle

Matthew Kosarek (mattew kosarek), a developer from Canonical, recently collaborated with Supply on the creation of an official Spin assembly by Fedora Linux. This new assembly will feature a user environment based on the Miracle window manager, utilizing the Wayland Protocol and components for building composite managers like mir. The goal is to incorporate Miracle into the upcoming Fedora Linux 41 release, although the proposal is pending consideration by the Fesco (Fedora Engineering Steering Committee) responsible for the technical aspects of the distribution.

The primary objective of this new assembly is to develop a functional and visually appealing user environment with a mosaic (tiling) layout of windows similar to the i3 window manager, along with enhanced graphic design and visual effects. One of the key advantages of this new Fedora assembly is the creation of a high-quality environment based on Wayland that can be deployed across a variety of devices, including low-power devices with ARM and X86 processors.
