Muscovite Arrested for Trading Malicious Software on Telegram

The Federal Security Service of Russia has successfully disrupted the operations of an individual in Moscow who was distributing harmful software via the popular messaging app, Telegram.

Authorities have revealed that the suspect, a resident of Moscow born in 1990, was actively involved in selling a computer program designed to illegally modify, delete, and duplicate information. The Muscovite was able to find potential buyers for the malicious software through a website that he managed. Interested clients were instructed to contact the administrator via Telegram in order to finalize the purchase.

Upon confirmation of payment, customers would receive a package containing the harmful program, an activation key, and a video guide on how to use it.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Article 273, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code, which addresses the creation, usage, and distribution of harmful computer programs for personal gain. If found guilty, the individual could face a sentence of up to five years in prison.
