SYSVINIT 3.09 RELEASED WITH MUSL SILL SUPPORT

The classical initialization system, Sysvinit 3.09, has been released. This system was widely used in Linux distributions before the rise of Systemd and Upstart, and is still in use in distributions like Devuan, Debian GNU/HURD, and Antix. The versions of Sysvinit are used in conjunction with the InSServ and Startpar utilities, which remain unchanged. InSServ is designed to organize the process of downloading dependencies between Init-scripts, while Startpar ensures the parallel launch of multiple scripts during system load.

In the new release of Sysvinit, some key updates include:

  • Support for assembly in Linux distributions using the MUSL SILL BIBLETETRY standard instead of Glibc, solving issues with using the HDDown processor in MUSL-based systems.
  • The Reboot team added the feature to transfer messages to the firmware during system reboot on Linux core systems. This allows the administrator to set a message, such as a request to boot from another section, using the “-m” flag.
  • Improved functionality of the Clean directive in Makefile.
