Tails, known as The Amnesic Incognito Live System, has launched a specialized distribution in version 6.1 based on the Debian 12 package base and featuring the GNOME 43 desktop. This distribution is designed for anonymous networking, with an exit provided by the Tor system. By default, all connections except traffic via the Tor network are blocked by the packet filter. User data is encrypted to preserve it between sessions. The ISO image for Tails 6.1, which can be used in Live mode, is available for download, requiring 1 GB of storage.
The new version includes updates such as Tor Browser 13.0.13 (based on Firefox 115.9.1) and Thunderbird 115.9. Additionally, a new version of microcode for Intel CPUs has been added to address the RFDS vulnerability. The configurator for permanent storage now displays all included additional features.
