Boston Dynamics Robot Injured in Shootout

The Massachusetts police reported a unique case demonstrating the non-standard use of technology in emergency situations. We are talking about a robot-dog named Rosk, created by Boston Dynamics. This robot was involved in the operation to neutralize an armed criminal who barricaded in the house.

In early March, a detachment of bombs using luxury and two robots Packbot 510 headed to the city of Barnsybl to the Cape Code to localize the suspect. Rosok, controlled remotely, was the first to examine the upper floors of the house, but ran into difficulties, going down to the basement, where he found an armed criminal.

The criminal, meeting with the robot, knocked him down and tried to climb the stairs, not noticing that Rosko could rise and follow him. Surprised by the persecution, the criminal again attacked the robot and shot him three times, after which the connection with Rosk was lost. As it turned out later, the robot was disabled.

It is interesting that during the incident the criminal also tried to attack one of the Packbot 510 robots, but missed. The police launched tear gas into the house, which prompted the suspect to give up.

The loyalty of Rosko impressed fellow people, and his “sacrifice” was lit on social networks. Despite the positive reviews of the Massachusetts police, the use of Boston Dynamics robots in police operations causes disputes, especially in connection with the possibilities of tracking and “military militarization”.

In 2021, the New York police criticized the use of robots, which even led to the termination of the lease agreement with Boston Dynamics. However, in 2023, the mayor of New York Eric Adams revised this decision, announcing the saving role of technology in urban conditions.

After the incident of the Robok Roski, Rosko was delivered back to the manufacturer, Boston Dynamics, in order to extract bullets from it and detailed diagnosis of damage received. In support and cooperation, the Massachusetts police received a new robops.
