The tension does not fall back into the West Bank. Three Palestinians were killed on Friday June 17, and eight others, injured, in an Israeli forces operation in Jenine, Bastion of the Palestinian armed factions in this Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967.

According to the local WAFA agency, the three men have been killed while the Israeli forces, which have multiplied operations in this sector in recent months, have opened fire on the vehicle in which they circulated.

For its part, the Israeli army made it known in a brief Message in Hebrew that it had carried out an operation in the Jenine sector in order to locate weapons in two different places. According to the army, soldiers were the target of fire arriving on the first place and opened fire in turn, then identified a suspicious vehicle by the road by going to the second place. The army added that it has found weapons, including two Assault Rifles M-16, and cartridges.

multiplication of Israeli operations

These incidents occur against the backdrop of violence in Israel and in the Palestinian territories. Since March, nineteen people, mostly civilians, have been killed during attacks in Israel and West Bank, perpetrated by Israeli Palestinians and Arabs since the end of March.

Israeli security forces have multiplied operations in Israel and occupied West Bank. Forty Palestinians and three Israeli Arab attackers were killed there, partly members of armed groups, but also civilians, including journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, star of the Al-Jazira chain, shot in Jénine on the margins last month of an Israeli army operation in this sector.

The Palestinian Authority, Al-Jazira and Qatar, a country in which this chain is established, accused the Israeli army of having killed the journalist. After saying at first that the reporter – who wore a bulletproof vest with the mention “press” and a report helmet when she was shot – had “probably” succumbed to a Palestinian shot, Israel said not to rule out the possibility that it can be a shot from Israeli soldiers.
