Legislative 2022: In Gers, a case of school of divisions on left

David Taupiac, the socialist candidate supported by the president of the Occitanie region, Carole Delga, confronts the candidate invested by the Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s Nut, Françoise Dubos, in the 2nd district.

Local against national or general imbroglio. In the Gers, the motivated voter must acquire a particularly sensitive political GPS in the 2 e district (Condom) before taking the path of the ballot boxes. In addition to his fourteen candidates – classic, dissident and unknown included -, the 2 e , which also covers part of the Armagnac, offers a unique configuration on the left, which could become the case school of a new political deal.

At the start, it was reserved for the Socialist Party, within the national agreement of the new popular, ecological and social union (Nuts), in the continuity of the three mandates exercised by Gisèle Biémouret (Socialist Party, PS), PS), who chose not to imagine. David Taupiac, mayor of Saint-Clar, previously designated by the PS, was therefore to be the candidate of the Nuts. But the regional councilor refuses the agreement with the Nuts and was finally divest by the coalition for the benefit of Françoise Dubos (La France Insoumise, LFI), which recovers the logos of the parties engaged in the agreement, LFI, Europe Ecologie-les Greens (EELV), French Communist Party (PCF)… and PS. A decision that puts the outgoing deputy: “Other socialist candidates have chosen the refusal of the agreement but did not have any candidate for them. We could leave us quiet on this constituency, while the Ps had only six reserved in Occitania, it is a surrender of the PS against LFI. “

The “boulevard” which seemed to be offered to the single candidate could therefore be reduced to a departmental route … even if the image suits David Tapiac, who is first of all in proximity elected This rural gers. Especially since in right, Michel Gabas, departmental advisor and mayor of Eauze (Les Républicains, LR), finds himself alone on the track. The new Renaissance-Esemble Maëva Boursier candidate must, on the other hand, face the competition from Christopher Soccio, this time without a label, after having been the official candidate of the Republic in 2017.

Agreement “not balanced “

To “be at the top of the peloton or at least second”, the rivals on the left chose two diametrically opposite strategies. David Taupiac insists on the local establishment, while Françoise Dubos favors the national issue. The first, elected well established, is supported by the president of the departmental council, number of local elected officials and Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie region, which has become the emblematic figure of the refusal of the NUPPs agreement in the name of “political coherence” to the left. “I will be on site on June 7 to provide all my support to a legitimate, serious, anchored candidate locally and who carries the Gers projects,” she explains to the world.
