Slow conversion of scooter to electric mobility

Everyone does not – still want to circulate in electric scooter, but this option could get imposed faster than we imagine. Introduced with great delay on the automobile, environmental standards begin to catch up with two wheels. In the Paris region, motorcycles and scooters from before July 2004 (vignette criterion 4) are in principle banished and those dating from before 2007 (Crit’air 3) will be undesirable from 2023. This voun that tightens and encourages conversion to the electric has so far inspired the major Japanese and European builders which, for the most part, offer only small models with low autonomy equivalent to the 50 cm 3 Thermal, a segment dominated by the Chinese brands. Peugeot assembles in France the e-loudix (2,599 euros, 50 km of autonomy), whose chassis is produced in India, and Yamaha will launch this summer the Neo’s (3,1900 euros, 37 km of autonomy). New protagonists like the Austrian brand Horwin, which imports from China EK3 (an equivalent 125 cm 3 charged € 3,690), begin to occupy the ground. On the other hand, at Honda, the world number one, nothing is planned for the moment.

In this panorama, BMW appears as a noticeable exception. By 2014, the German firm marketed the C-Evolution, a very successful machine, available in equivalent 125 and 400 cm 3 , but out of price (from 15,000 euros). While the electrification of the urban two-wheelers becomes a palpable reality, BMW returns with a new proposal. The CE 04 is intended for urban and peri-urban displacements. For this second generation, the Bavarian brand did not choose continuity.

Waiting for an accessible offer

The CE 04 is a scooter, but it does not look at it. Very long (2.28 m) in order to accommodate its longitudinally batteries, which does not always facilitate things when one wants to park perpendicular to the sidewalk, this gear at the vertical seat and by other fairly minimalist fairing that angleux does not look like any other. Rather low, it is suitable for all templates and has multiple storage, even if the volume occupied by the charging cables prevents more than one headset in the central minicock.
