South Korea showed a competitor to Russian “Sprut-SDM1”

Hanhwa Defense has shown the light machine K21-105. The tank on the basis of the Battle Machine Infantry (BMP) K21 will be offered India. The development of South Korea will become a competitor of the Russian tank “Sprut-SDM1”. It is reported by Janes.

The light tank will be offered by India as part of the contest for the supply of 350 cars of this type. South Korea is also ready to offer India localization of production K21-105. The publications emphasize that India and the Republic of Korea jointly produced self-propelled artillery installation (SAU) K9 Vajra-T.

Perspective tank is based on the BMP chassis K21. A combat vehicle weight of 29 tons received a 105 millimeters caliber gun. The new tower will contain two people. The manufacturer notes that the machines for the Indian military can be protected from weapons of mass lesion, a sensor that signals the guidance of anti-tank missiles, and an automatic fire extinguishing system.

In April 2021, India announced a competition for purchasing 350 tanks for action in the mountainous location. Machines are designed to carry services in the region of Ladakh.

In December, the head of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, said that Russia would take part in the Indian tender for the supply of light cars. Russia can offer Sprut-SDM1, transmission of technologies and localization of the production of individual nodes.
