More than 7 tons of cargo will be delivered by “Progress” ships on ISS in 2022

In accordance with Roscosmos approved in the State Corporation “Roskosmos” by the flight of flights on the Russian program of the International Space Station in 2022, three launches of the “Progress MS” cargo ships are planned. All of them will be performed from the launcher No. 6 of the site No. 31 (“Vostok”) of the Baikonur cosmodrome.

The first in 2022 launch of the Soyuz-2.1A carrier missile from the Baikonur cosmodrome is scheduled for February 15 at 07:25 Moscow time. She will lead a transport cargo ship “Progress MS-19” into orbit. According to preliminary data, it will stay in space for more than a year – 370 days.

The second this year the cargo ship “Progress MS-20” will go to the 173-day flight on June 3 at 12:33 pm Moscow time. In addition, on October 26, at 03:19 Moscow time, the launch of the MS-21 Progress Cargo Ship is scheduled. As expected, its flight will last 247 days.

Each of them will deliver cargo to the international space station with a total mass of more than 2.5 tons, necessary to maintain its flight in the manned mode and the implementation of the Russian program of scientific and applied research. Usually, among the goods there is a set of target loads within the framework of the implementation of the Russian Experimental Program, Medical Control and Sanitary Security Program, Clothing Items, Standard Diet and Fresh Products, as well as refueling fuel, drinking water in the tanks of the Spring system and compressed air in Oxygen supply cylinders.

Developer and manufacturer of the program “Progress MS” – Rocket and Space Corporation “Energy” them. S.P. Korolev (part of Roskosmos State Corporation). He is part of the Family of Progress Cargo Ships, which were created specifically for servicing orbital stations. Today it is used to deliver goods to an international space station, as well as to correct the height of its orbit.

The Progress MS ship has three compartments: cargo (for the placement of dry cargo and water), instrument and aggregate and compartment of refueling components (for the delivery of fuel to the station). Length is 7.2 m, the maximum diameter is 2.72 m, the starting mass is about 7.3 tons. It can take a useful load with a mass of about 2.6 tons.

Docking with the station passes in automatic mode, and in the case of abnormal situations, manual docking is possible using a teleoperator control mode. After executing the flight program, the ship comes down with orbits and ceases to exist in the Pacific Aquatorium.
