Box Gifts: Why do they finish in a drawer?

Offer vouchers for a dream weekend or paragliding flight is more original than an umpteenth scarf. Yet many of these “experience” gifts are never used.

There are plenty of good reasons to offer experiences rather than “hard” gifts. Our closets overflow with material goods and experiences leave more memories than bread machines. Remains a mystery. If there are so many reasons to prefer these presents, why do not you use them? Of course, there are those for whom it falls next to (“Why would I block a weekend to sleep under a yurt away from home?”). But, most of the time, those who forget their good gift in a drawer were very happy to receive it and safe to make good use.

When products in my refrigerator approach the consumption deadline, I am able to eat them all in one meal to discard anything. I also google “can we freeze eggs?” Before going on vacation. Despite this haunting of waste, I let go (twice) the expiry date of a DakotaBox received in 2017 for a dream weekend. The colleagues of Hugues have done well to offer him a paragliding flight in Ardèche: Nothing could make him more pleasure and, in his family, we have been enjoying the immaterial gifts for a long time. Except that he has never realized it. Ariane received a very chic care of his children in institute. When she woke up to do it, eleven months later, the place had closed.

Unavoyable scratch

Some are too embarrassed to confess their scratching, even pay a similar experience of their own deniers to be able to thank those who offered them. Other letting go: “Ah, it’s a shame, I let the date pass”, as if, for a virtual gift, the damage was virtual (the same who would never dare to admit that the isothermal christmas bottle last is returned in the first garage sale).

Forgetting can be sourced (“for my father’s birthday, the family offered him a half-day workout on an automobile circuit. He never did it, my mother was furious “). It may be unfair. After all, when we offer capital to the XXI e century of Thomas Pikety to someone who does not read it or a stole to someone who does not wear, we conceive less d ‘bitterness. We will say that the scarf may be brought to next season, that Pikety will probably be read later. Old Dakotabox, Marie-Pierre Bonnell has another explanation: “What annoys it’s knowing that it’s part of the Business Model. The Piketty Publisher does not win more money if the person to whom we offer The book does not read it. “But this is the case of intermediaries experience gifts, since the service providers are paid only when the gift is consumed. At the head workshop, 20% of gift cards are not used. At SmartBox, “we do not communicate on this figure”, so to say that it must be worse than imagine.
