The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia Maria Zakharov said that the United States asks Russia to expand oil and gas production to help reduce their value in the global market. Her words transmit “Interfax”.
“US by one hand builds barriers, and they do it quite hypocritically, for the export of Russian energy resources to the European market, and they stretch out another hand, persuading us and other mining countries – download more to bring prices,” Zakharov emphasized. The United States has been declared the need to increase oil production, but the parties of OPEC + refused to take such a step.
To save the country from prices, Washington has announced plans to use 50 million barrels of oil from their strategic reserves. The White House reported that the high cost of fuel already creates some risks for the economy – both for consumers and companies. The United States persuaded printing reserves and other major oil consumers – the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, as well as China and India.
In OPEC, such measures will lead to a surplus of oil in the global market. The Council of the Economic Commission (advisory body of OPEC) predicted that if the specified countries are released from stocks of 66 million barrels from stocks, then an excess of fuel can increase by 1.1 million barrels per day. In this case, the surplus will reach 2.3 million barrels per day in January and 3.7 million in February. Some participants in the unification of exporter countries have already stated that they can cancel the increase in production planned for January.
