Since his election at the head of Medef, in 2018, Geoffroy Roux of Bézieux refocated the organization he chairs. He has it with a new logo while renamed his summer university: this one is now called the “meeting of the entrepreneurs of France” (ref) and it has the decoration of the paris-longchamp racecourse – Instead of the Campus of HEC in Jouy-en-Josas (Yvelines). But there is a change that the employer leader has failed to carry out: the move of the seat of his movement. It was, indeed, to implant it a few steps from the François-Mitterrand library, in Paris, but the project, very successful, was finally abandoned, a few weeks ago, several important federations having disapproved. This decision, passed unnoticed so far, throws a shadow on the mandate of Mr. Roux de Bézieux.
The MEDEF is installed at 55 Avenue Bosquet, in the 7 e district of Paris, since 2003. The frame is chic but internally, we find that the premises are a little “outdated”, according to the formula of a spokesman. This is why a reflection has been engaged more than a year ago to move the command post to another site.
The operation of the operation had identified a building likely to agree. Property of AG2R World – a joint social protection group whose governance is provided by employers’ and trade union representatives – the building stands in the concerted development zone (ZAC) Paris-Rive Left, a sector of the capital in full mutation. The Medef had to occupy a part of this impressive building, built above the railways and which bears the name of “Airtime”. The idea was to house the teams of permanent movement of the movement, as well as those of adherent professional federations.
Such a transfer would have made it possible to achieve “futures” savings, indicate at 55 Avenue Bosquet. It was also likely to offer a renewed image of the Medef, in a neighborhood with constructions with modern architecture, not far from the station F – a vast start-up campus. Finally, we can not completely exclude that Mr. Roux de Bézieux, very attached to this initiative, wanted to “leave a trace to posterity”, as pointed out by a patronal source.

The case seemed to be folded. But in the last straight line, theater: the Office of the Executive Board of the MEDEF, in which the largest federations, decided, in late October, to give up Airptime. Several elements weighed. According to a spokesperson, the number of square meters had been determined before the epidemic. Since then, the space needs have evolved down, with the use of teleworking, so that the organization would have been led to rent offices to third parties, which is not really its vocation. In addition, the intended location “could ask some questions, in terms of remoteness,” entrusts, with precaution, the same source. Translation: the heavyweight weights of the patronat, many of which have their seat in the borough boroughs of the west of Paris, were hardly enthusiastic about having to project to the other end of the capital, not far away.
