Release of decentralized Communication Platform Hubzilla 5.6

Published New production platform for building decentralized social networks Hubzilla 5.6 . The project provides a communication server integrable with Web publication systems equipped with a transparent identification system and access control tools in decentralized Fediverse networks. The project code is written in PHP and JavaScript and distributed under the MIT license, the MYSQL DBMS and its forces, as well as PostgreSQL, are supported as the data warehouse.

Hubzilla has a unified authentication system to work as a social network, forums, discussion groups, Wiki, systems for publishing articles and websites. Federated interaction is carried out on the basis of the ZOT’s own protocol, which implements the WEBMTA concept for transmitting content through WWW in decentralized networks and provides a number of unique features, in particular, transparent through authentication “Nomadic Identity” inside the ZOT network, as well as the cloning function to provide fully identical points Inputs and user data sets on various network nodes. The exchange with other Fediverse networks is supported using ActivityPub, Diaspora, DFRN and Ostatus protocols. The Hubzilla file storage is also available via the WebDAV protocol. In addition, the system supports working with Caldav events and calendars, as well as carddav notebooks.

In a new release, in addition to the mass of traditional improvements and corrections , a number of important innovations have been added:

  • completely redesigned user registration module. Now, when registering, a fine tuning of its parameters has become available, including time intervals, the maximum number of registrations for the period, confirmation and verification of users. The latter became possible without using an email address.
  • Improved user invitation system module in Hubzilla, where the ability to override invitations templates and supported languages is implemented.
  • Added module full-featured support for sessions in the Redis resident database. It can be useful for increasing the responsiveness of large Hubzilla servers.
  • work was carried out to improve the efficiency of processing a number of processes, which also had a positive effect on the overall system performance.
