Constitutional Commission urged to leave Belarus Presidential Republic

The Constitutional Commission of Belarus called on to leave the presidential form of government in the republic, reports Interfax – West.

Chairman of the Commission Peter Miklashevich said that the past 25 years confirmed “the effectiveness, consistency and feasibility of the functioning of the presidency Institute.”

“and today there is no objective need to change the form of government in Belarus to parliamentary or parliamentary-presidential,” he added.

April 28 is the third meeting of the Commission, which discusses proposals for changing the provisions of the Basic Law on Functions and Powers of the President and Government.

The first meeting of the Commission took place on March 31. They must go twice a month.

On the eve of the head of the CEC, Lydia Yermoshina, the CEC confirmed the timing of the referendum under the Constitution – January-February 2022.
