European Union sued manufacturer of Vaccine Astrazeneca

The European Commission submitted to the court to the manufacturer of Vaccine Astrazeneca due to the breakdown of the delivery schedule. It is reported by the British newspaper The Guardian.

The European Commission reported that the Anglo-Swedish company did not comply with some provisions of the Bilateral Treaty, after which the authority filed a lawsuit on behalf of 27 EU member states. “What matters for us in this case: the operational delivery of a sufficient number of doses, which were promised to European citizens on the basis of the contract,” the representative of the European Commission explained.

In Astrazeneca, in turn, regretted due to the decision of the European Union to file a lawsuit and declared the readiness to “decisively defend themselves in court.”

About the decision of the European Commission Start a trial against the manufacturer of Vaccines Astrazeneca became known on April 22. It was reported that with the help of a claim in the EU, they expect to oblige Astrazeneca to deliver all the doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, relying on the contract.

In late February, it became known that Europe will not be adopted by tens of millions of vaccine from Astrazeneca in the second quarter of this year – the block will receive only 30 million doses instead of the stated 90. In response, the head of the European Commission Ursula Vod Lyien threatened the company Astrazeneca to prohibit exporting its vaccine from Coronavirus from the European Union to other states due to a sharp reduction in deliveries.
