Russia promised leadership in production of “green” hydrogen

Russia can become a leader in the production of “green” hydrogen, the head of the International Sunny Alliance (ISA), Aja Mattur, promised. His words lead RIA Novosti.

“Your hydroelectric power plants play a central role in global achievements on water electrolysis,” he stated. Matur said that Russia has a huge potential for the production of solar energy. According to him, it can be especially relevant to the southern part of the country.

According to the project of the concept of hydrogen energy development until 2024, Russia has planned to earn money from $ 23.2 to $ 100.2 billion to the export of hydrogen by 2050. In the future, the country wants to supply the world market from 7.9 to 33.4 million tons of environmentally friendly hydrogen species.

Search for an alternative to traditional energy sources has become particularly relevant in the last decade against the background of climate change. The substitute for oil and gas is considered hydrogen. In its pure form on Earth, it practically does not occur, but it can be extracted from a large number of common resources. One method includes the use of electrolysis with water separation to oxygen and hydrogen by electric current. If the electricity used in the process comes from renewable sources, such as wind or sun, then such hydrogen is called renewable or “green”.
