First cosmic: Wristwatch Yuri Gagarin is exposed to Museum of CPC

“Nadrum” Watch Yuri Gagarin, who were on it during the space flight, can be seen in the Museum of the Center for the Training of Cosmonauts. In April 1961, the first cosmonaut of the world presented them with the then Commander of the Air Force Konstantin Vershinin, which is evidenced by engraving on the cluster of the clock. A year later, the daughter of Vertinina – Elena Konstantinovna – handed over the Raritet Museum of the CPC.

Main Marshal Aviation Konstantin Andreevich Vershinin actively participated in the formation of Soviet manned cosmonautics. He was part of the State Commission on the launch of the first spacecraft of the East series. It was he was addressed to a short report that sounded April 12, 1961.

“I ask to transfer to the Commander-in-law Air Force: The task has been executed, landed in a given area, I feel good, bruises and breakdowns,” I repeated Gagarin after landing.

According to the preserved information, Yuri Alekseevich handed over the vertex a memorable souvenir on April 15, 1961. Perhaps this happened in the metropolitan home of scientists, where the first after the flight press conference cosmonaut was held. The GSC command was present on it. The fact that Hagarin’s clock, visited with him in space, is stored in the Museum of the CPC, in fact the fact of the non-Ukrainian. Amazing the case that occurred in the early 1990s, when seven of the Austrian cosmonauts passed the selection in the CPK.

“Then all foreigners acquaintance with the center of training cosmonauts began from our museum. We go from the hall to the hall, and suddenly the Austrian candidates for astronauts ask to show the hours of Gagarin, – recalls the director of the Museum of CPC Natalya Talanova. – How could they know about What hours from us? It turned out to be in their homeland, they watched the matches of the World Hockey Championship, and there were something quiz in the breaks. Then they heard that the clock was exhibited in our museum. “

In the candidate group was Franz Fibek, who eventually was lucky to become the first Austrian cosmonaut. Returning out of the flight, he again went to the Museum of the CPC and shared his joyful news. His daughter Karina appeared on October 2, 1991 – after eight and a half hours after the start of his father. Franz Fibek wore a clock similar to Gagarin, and believed that they brought him good luck.

Production of watches that were called “navigator”, especially for air force began in 1949 at the first Moscow time plant. They did not go to the open sale, the clock was given to military pilots when entering the regiment. They give them out and now, however, the “navigator” look different. As for cosmonauts, they go into space with wristing hours of other brands. Before the flight, each receives three copies: Some put on top of the skatewood, others are under the sleeves on the wrists. Outdoor hours, among other things, are used when entering outdoor space.
