Russia to supply S-300 and drones to Kyrgyzstan

The agreement on the supply of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems and drones to Kyrgyzstan was reached during negotiations between the Kyrgyz and Russian presidents Sadyr Zhaparov and Vladimir Putin. TASS reports.

“The agreements of the parties on the continuation of military-defense cooperation, in particular, on the supply of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems and attack drones in the near future,” said Galina Baiterek, press secretary of the President of Kyrgyzstan.

According to her, this will become an important contribution of Russia in ensuring the security of the country, the external borders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

On February 24, during a visit to Moscow, Japarov assured that Kyrgyzstan would continue to strengthen its strategic partnership with Russia. During the negotiations, he presented Putin with a beautiful Kyrgyz sword and asked to include Kyrgyz labor migrants in the coronavirus vaccination program.

Previously, Japarov published an article about Russia entitled “Allied Ties”. In it, he revealed the history of relations between the Russian and Kyrgyz peoples in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the current state of bilateral relations. “Thanks to integration projects and its power, Russia provides peace along the perimeter of the state border, forms a dynamically developing region around itself,” Zhaparov wrote.

On January 28, at the inauguration ceremony, Japarov thanked Russia for helping to stabilize the situation after the October events. He promised that Kyrgyzstan will continue to pursue a multi-vector policy, strengthening relations with strategic partners.
