“Coalition-SV” fired six shells and hit one target all at same time

The newest Russian self-propelled artillery unit (SAU) “Coalition-SV” was tested in the “barrage of fire” mode. A source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti about this.

He said that the self-propelled gun fired six shots, but the shells hit one target at the same time. This was achieved thanks to shooting from different angles. It also matters that the charge of gunpowder is different in each shot. The fire control system “Coalition-SV” almost instantly calculates the necessary parameters before firing and adjusts each subsequent shot, measuring the true speed of the shells.

The agency notes that the “flurry of fire” is not a unique regime for Russian self-propelled artillery. Thus, the German PzH 2000 howitzer is capable of hitting a target with five shells simultaneously, and the Swedish-Finnish AMOS manages to fire up to eight rounds from two barrels at once.

In October 2020, it became known that the US Army will test a 155-mm Swedish self-propelled artillery installation Archer. Breaking Defense then claimed that this howitzer could open fire on enemy positions within 20 seconds after receiving its coordinates. Within two minutes after the first shot, the weapon can be used five to seven more times, after which it can move half a kilometer from the place from which the fire was opened. The publication assures that “even an adversary like Russia will take several minutes to determine and destroy the position of the corresponding positions of the Archer,” which is loaded automatically.

The 2S35 “Coalition-SV” 152-mm single-barreled self-propelled howitzer is designed to destroy artillery and mortar batteries, armored vehicles, manpower, air defense, missile defense and other objects. It is capable of hitting targets at a distance of 70 kilometers, the gun has a rate of fire of up to 10 rounds per minute. For the first time “Coalition-SV” was presented at the Parade in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Victory and it should replace the “Mstu-S” created in the 1980s.
