In China, they began to use a new method for testing for coronavirus – anal swabs. Bloomberg reports.
This unusual method was used along with nasal and oropharyngeal swabs, as well as antibody tests. During the procedure, a cotton swab soaked in saline is inserted into the anus about two to three centimeters.
According to the newspaper, more than a thousand schoolchildren and teachers in Beijing have already been subjected to this procedure after an asymptomatic patient was found in one of the schools. An anal swab also has to be taken upon arrival in the capital. One woman told the publication that the authorities told her to take a smear on her own when she was undergoing mandatory quarantine after flying from Hong Kong.
Earlier it was reported that in northeast China, in Jilin province, a new epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic has emerged. In addition, high incidence rates are recorded in the province of Hubei, which was most affected by the first wave of the pandemic.
Against the backdrop of an increase in coronavirus infections, the PRC authorities resumed the construction of temporary hospitals for people with coronavirus. In particular, in the city of Nangong, Hebei province, a medical facility of the corresponding profile for 1.5 thousand wards was built in five days.
