According to her, one of the main challenges is the strategic struggle with Moscow and Beijing. Pierce believes that none of these countries should emerge victorious from the pandemic.
In addition, she said that China could once again become a trendsetter in the technological sphere and recalled that it took precedence in the 1950s, when it also invented and spread nuclear weapons. “We do not want to wake up one day and find that Chinese standards are laid down in areas such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics,” the diplomat said.
Pierce urged “more open” countries to take action and develop to ensure that they thrive after the end of the COVID-19 period. In this regard, she recommended the United Kingdom and the United States to unite.
