Ukraine wants more NATO exercises on its territory

The Ukrainian authorities wanted to conduct more joint exercises with NATO on their territory. This was stated by the head of Foreign Ministry country Dmitry Kuleba , reports RIA Novosti .

“It is obvious that NATO will be more involved in ensuring security in the Black Sea,” the minister said following a meeting of the NATO North Atlantic Council at the level of foreign affairs agencies with the participation of Ukraine and Georgia.

Kuleba also said that Ukraine is still striving to become a NATO member.

Earlier it was reported that Ministry of Defense Ukraine start to purchase weapons through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency. The first consignment of goods purchased by the Ukrainian side included tracked belts for BMP-1 and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles.

September 17, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that joining the North Atlantic Alliance is the country’s strategic course, and called for intensifying reforms that would allow them to receive an invitation and join to the NATO Membership Action Plan.

The course of joining NATO and European Union is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. The corresponding law was signed in February 2019 by the fifth president of the country Petro Poroshenko .
