Ukraine Covid-19 cases top 700,000

In Ukraine, since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 700,000 people have contracted the coronavirus. Over the past day, laboratory confirmed 16,294 cases of infection, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported in the Telegram channel “Coronavirus-info” .

The largest number of confirmed cases of infection on November 27 was registered in Kiev (1739), Dnepropetrovsk (1599), Odessa (1350), Zaporozhye (1067) and Sumy (1013) regions.

The department added that over the past day, 8,897 patients recovered in the country, 184 died from complications.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine, 709,701 people have been infected. Of these, 335 135 people recovered and 12 093 died from complications of coronavirus infection.

November 26, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov stated that the country must immediately introduce a lockdown for three to four weeks. In turn, the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov believes that a complete lockdown is possible in the event of a collapse of the medical system.

On November 11, Ukraine introduced weekend quarantine. From 00:00 Saturday to 00:00 Monday, only critical infrastructure objects can work: grocery stores, pharmacies, transport. Many business and service workers protested demanding the end of the quarantine, which deprives them of their earnings.
