OutWiker 4.0 Note-Taking Software Launches

After almost two years since the last stable version, a new release of the note-taking program OutWiker 4.0 has been published. The program stands out for storing notes in the form of directories with text files, allowing users to attach multiple files to each note. Users can write notes using HTML, wiki, Markdown (with the relevant plugin installed), and even insert LaTeX format formulas on wiki pages and colorized code blocks for programming languages through additional plugins. OutWiker is written in Python with a wxPython interface, distributed under the GPLv3 license, and available for Linux (snap and flatpack) and Windows.

The latest version 4.0 of OutWiker brings several changes, including a new implementation of the notes and tabs tree, with tabs now sortable into multiple rows. Users can now change the order of notes using the mouse, scale the notes tree with the mouse wheel, and adjust the color and font size of notes in the notes tree. Additional icons have been incorporated to indicate bookmarked notes or notes opened in read-only mode. A new plugin has been added to highlight notes changed on the current day with color or an additional icon. Users can now customize the appearance of tabs and the interface, select labels for pages, adjust the size of icons in the notes tree and toolbar buttons, explore new text styles for wiki pages, and enjoy new vector icons for notes.
