CrossOver 26.0 Debuts for Linux, MacOS

CodeWeavers has released the CrossOver 26.0 package, based on Wine code, which is designed to run programs and games written for the Windows platform. As a key contributor to the Wine project, CodeWeavers sponsors its development and integrates all innovations from its commercial products into the project. The open-source CrossOver components’ source code can be downloaded from this page.

In the latest version of CrossOver 26.0:

  • The code base has been updated to Wine 11.
  • The Wine Mono engine with .NET platform implementation has been updated to release 10.4.1.
  • The Vkd3d package with Direct3D 12 implementation has been updated to version 1.18.
  • The Linux platform now includes support for the ntsync driver, which can significantly enhance the performance of Windows games run using Wine. This driver, included in the Linux kernel since release 6.14, implements the /dev/ntsync char device and synchronization primitives from the Windows NT kernel. The performance gains are achieved by eliminating the overhead related to running RPC in user space.
  • The macOS version includes updated versions of D3DMetal 3.0 and DXMT 0.72 and also resolves issues with various games such as Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition, Assetto Corsa EVO, and more.

The games with resolved issues on macOS include:

  • Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition
  • Assetto Corsa EVO
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  • CloverPit
  • Company of Heroes 3
  • Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • God of War Ragnarök
  • Helldivers 2
