Toolkit Strips Redundancies from Chrome, Edge, Firefox

Corbin Davenport has introduced the project Just the Browser, which aims to clean browsers from unnecessary functionality not directly related to web navigation. The project provides scripts for altering the configuration of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox, removing annoying features such as AI services, third-party product integrations, telemetry, and recommended content on new tabs. The toolkit’s code is written in Shell and distributed under the MIT license.

Just the Browser claims to eliminate features including functionality related to generative AI models, interactions with AI services (both local and cloud), Copilot integration in Edge, and the use of AI to recommend tab groupings in Firefox. It also removes shopping tools like tracking prices in online stores and receiving coupons.
