Wine 10.8 & GE-Proton 10.1 Released

Experimental release of the open implementation of Win32 API – wine 10.8 has been published. Since the release of 10.7, 18 errors have been addressed, and 231 changes have been implemented.

The key changes include:

  • Continued work on the new pdb format (Program Database) in the Dbghelp library.
  • Improved performance through the transfer to divided memory of user parameters.
  • Enhanced image support in TIFF.
  • Resolved error reports for applications like Adobe Lightroom Classic 10.4, Vegas Pro 14, CMD, Foobar2000, and Caret.
  • Fixed errors related to game functionalities in Defiance, Final Fantasy XI Online, and Country Siblings.

Furthermore, the release of the project ge-proton 10-1 has been noted, where enthusiasts have created an extended assembly of the package for launching Windows Applications proton, featuring a newer version of Wine, using FFMPEG in Faudio, and additional patches to solve issues in various game applications. The changes in Proton GE 10-1 are as follows:

  • Transition to the Proton 10.0 branch currently in beta testing stage.
  • Integration of updates from the latest code bases of Wine 10, SteamClient, VKD3D-PROTON, DXVK-Navapi, and DXVK.
  • Inclusion of Wine-Wayland for working in the Wayland environment.
  • Updated patches for Dualsense game controllers, AMD FSR (Fidelityfx Super Resolution) support, and reduced delays with NVIDIA Reflex.
  • Resolved issues in games including Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Breath of Fire 4, Doom 2016, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Liminal Border Part III, Lord of the Rings Online, Marvel Rivals EGS,
