Tails 6.17, a specialized distribution developed as part of the Tor project, has been released. This amnesic Incognito Live System is based on the DEBIAN 12 package base and features the GNOME 43 desktop. It is specifically designed for anonymous network access using Tor tools, with all connections except traffic via the Tor network being blocked by default. User data is encrypted for storage between launches to ensure privacy. The ISO-image for live-mode operation is available for download, with a size of 1 GB.
The new version of Tails includes updates to the Tor Browser 14.5.4 and the Ublock Origin 1.62.0 extension. The loading image size has been reduced by eliminating duplicate microcode for the CPU. Additionally, a new feature has been added to the password request dialogue on the screen lock page, allowing users to display the entered password.
