State Duma was told about new policy of Germany in relation to Russia

Germany Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not want to be the historic figure with which the deterioration of relations with Russia would be associated, the State Duma deputy Dmitry Novikov believes. In a conversation with “Ribbon.ru,” he noted that Berlin’s economic relations are needed with Moscow, and the new head of state understands this.

for stability and constructive

Novikov drew attention to the fact that the new government of Germany and, in particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already made a number of applications that have a clear focus on exacerbation and deterioration of relations with Russia. But Scholz can not allow this.

“For Scholz, it is important to emphasize that there are not separate ministers for the foreign policy course of the country, and the government as a whole and the chancellor, in particular, – considers the deputy. – He does not want to become in the history of that figure, with the name of which would be associated worse relations with Russia. So, during the reign of Ex-Chancellor Angels Merkel, we cannot, of course, say that our relationships were brilliant, but at least especially against the background of complex relations with the West, they were workers. ”

Berlin, according to politics, I would like to continue to adhere to a similar pragmatic line, which would ensure the participation of Germany in general policies, taking into account, on the one hand, solidarity with the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, and on the other – compliance with the interests of the state itself.

“For the economic development of Germany, it is extremely important to maintain relations with Russia. At least, in the countries that Merkel already asked,” concluded Novikov.

Earlier, German Chancellor stated that Berlin is ready to start a constructive dialogue with Moscow, but the latter should be understood: this is not a one-sided policy aimed at east. “We must be ready to make attempts to achieve mutual understanding, stop the escalation spiral, as temporarily managed with the help of the” Norman process, “said Scholz in the Bundestage. He stressed that such a policy is based on the principles of European law and peaceful order, the “obligations to comply with which Moscow”.
