Developers of GLIBC consider issue of termination of transfer of rights to code of SPO Foundation

Key System Library Developers GNU C Library (GLIBC) put For discussion Termination of the mandatory transfer of the Fund of Property Rights to the code. By analogy with changes in the GCC project, the GLIBC is invited to translate the signing of CLA-Agreements with the SPO Foundation in the category optional and provide developers with the possibility of confirming the right to transfer the code to the project using the Developer Certificate of Origin mechanism (DCO).

In accordance with DCO, the author tracking is carried out through attaching to each change of the “Signed-off-BY: name and email developer”. Attaching this signature to the patch, the developer confirms its authorship over the transmitted code and agrees with its distribution in the project or as part of the code under a free license. Unlike the Action of the GCC Project, the decision is not inclusive by the Governing Council on top, and first put up for discussion with all community representatives.
