The coronavirus pandemic, due to which many countries have been forced to impose strict quarantine measures, is fraught with a latent threat. Doctor of Medical Sciences, endocrinologist told about this in an interview ” Komsomolskaya Pravda ” , academician RAS Marina Shestakova .

According to her, restrictions and self-isolation have caused a decrease in physical activity, which leads to the development of obesity. The expert referred to a study by Italian scientists who came to the conclusion that during the pandemic, the number of people who moved from the group with normal and overweight to the group with obesity increased 3 times.
