MegaFon became leader in Internet speed in Moscow in 2020

In Moscow, with a large margin, almost one and a half times, in terms of the speed of mobile Internet or data transfer to the subscriber (viewing content, surfing the sites) MegaFon is in the lead with an average speed of 55.1 megabits per second. In the Moscow region, it is slightly ahead of MTS (43 and 43.3 megabits per second, respectively). This is follows from a study of the latest measurements in mobile networks of cellular operators in the capital and the Moscow region, carried out by the information and analytical agency TelecomDaily.

In Moscow, three operators have the same ping level (the indicator of service stability is the lowest ping): MegaFon, MTS and ” Beeline ” is 46, Tele2 a > – 47. MegaFon has the best ping results in the Moscow region – 44, MTS and Beeline – 45, Tele2 – 48. At the same time, if you look at the results of 2019, Tele2 and MTS improved the quality by an order of magnitude services.

In 2020, the average speed of mobile Internet in Moscow towards the subscriber increased by 5 megabits per second, to 36 megabits per second (at the end of 2019 – 31 megabits per second). When compared with the data for Russia, which were obtained in October this year, this figure is 1.5 times higher than for the country. Thus, the average speed of mobile Internet in Russia is 24 megabits per second. In the Moscow region, the average speed to subscriber practically does not differ from the results in Moscow, 34 megabits per second was recorded here (against 28 megabits per second) a year earlier.

The research data was collected during the 4th quarter of 2020 based on several tens of thousands of measurements. Results include anonymous data. One and the same subscriber could launch Megabitus at home, in an office, in a store, in a country house and so on. The assessment was based on the achieved data transfer rate (maximum, minimum, arithmetic mean), as well as other parameters described by GOST (the rate of successful logins, successful connection attempts), login time (for 80 percent and 95 percent of attempts) , the ratio of unsuccessful transmissions and so on. The study shows the speeds in the networks of the cellular four: MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom (Beeline network) and Tele2.
