Nutritionists named most high-calorie New Year’s dishes and advised an alternative

Experts have named the most high-calorie New Year’s foods. This was reported by RIA Novosti .

According to experts, the most high-calorie dishes are salads dressed with mayonnaise, fried potatoes, cold cuts, confectionery, sweets, some types of chocolate, fried foods, sweet soda, as well as spirits, in particular vodka, cognac and whiskey .

“Traditional dishes – Olivier, herring under a fur coat, mimosa – all these salads are insanely high in calories,” says nutritionist Elena Tikhomirova. “You also need to remember that the most high-calorie drink on the New Year’s table is juice.” She advised on New Years as an alternative to eat more vegetables and instead of any drinks, even non-alcoholic ones, drink plain water.

Nutritionist Inna Pichugina suggested a different way to fight excess calories. “The composition of the traditional Olivier can be replaced with other, healthier foods, such as boiled breast and boiled vegetables,” she said. “Use a slow cooker more often. The calorie content of mayonnaise can be brought down by adding unsweetened yogurt or ten percent sour cream.”

Therapist Timur Asanov explained that after adding mayonnaise, any dish turns into a very high-calorie one. “Seemingly harmless sliced sausage, even if you eat it without bread, potatoes also contain an impressive supply of calories,” he added.

Earlier it was reported that American nutritionists Vanessa Risseto and Tamar Samuels debunked popular misconceptions about healthy eating. In their opinion, it makes no sense to replace sugar with honey and give preference to food without fat. Drinking eight glasses of water a day and the heart health benefits of red wine have also proven to be myths.
