Russians began to take out record large loans to buy a car

In November this year, the average size of car loans issued in Russia amounted to a record 880.5 thousand rubles. Compared to the same period last year, the indicator increased by 5.7 percent, reports National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBCH).

The largest average size of issued car loans was noted in Moscow (1,397.1 thousand rubles), the Moscow region (1114.2 thousand rubles), St. Petersburg (1,093 thousand). The Russians have become more active in taking loans for the purchase of a car thanks to the deferred demand that formed in the spring, during the period of severe quarantine restrictions, experts noted.

Demand is also fueled by buyers expecting higher car prices. Earlier, the experts of the Avtostat agency assumed that in 2021 the weighted average price of a new car in Russia may grow by 10 percent.

Sales of new cars in the country grew by 5.9 percent in November (up to 157 580 units) compared to the same period last year. The market continues to grow for the third month in a row.
