Ministry of Emergency Situations told about four-meter waves in area of sinking of Russian ship

In the area of ​​the Onega wreck in the Barents Sea, the wave height reached four meters, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported, RIA Novosti . The air temperature is 20 degrees below zero.

In the weather center “Phobos”, in turn, they said that at the moment of the “Onega” crash, the hurricane wind rose up to 32 meters per second, the ship could get into the storm zone.

Two surviving sailors said that the vessel capsized while hauling longlines, writes Telegram -channel “Mash”. This is the process by which the fish is hauled aboard.

A total of 16 residents of the Murmansk region and one person each from Arkhangelsk, Kursk and Rostov regions were on board the sunken ship.

The ship “Onega” sank in the water area of ​​the Barents Sea near Novaya Zemlya. In total, there were 19 people on board, two of them were saved, one was killed. We managed to find out that one of the rescued was 40-year-old Vladislav Butorin. The identity of the deceased sailor has not yet been established. According to media reports, the disaster took place in a severe storm, the sailors were washed off the deck into the sea. The search for the rest of the crew continues.
