Russia: price of “Herring under a fur coat” soared

In Russia, the price of “Herring under a fur coat” salad has skyrocketed. This year it will cost Russians eight percent more than in 2019 reports TASS citing the data of the OFD.ru fiscal data operator.

On average in the country, the minimum price for two kilograms of salad was 201 rubles. According to analysts, 500 grams of potatoes will cost the buyer 18.9 rubles, carrots – 8.5 rubles, beets – 8.1 rubles, four chicken eggs – 46.1 rubles, 100 grams of onions – 1.9 rubles, 250 grams mayonnaise – 49.3 rubles, 500 grams of herring – 68.1 rubles.

The highest cost of making “Herring under a fur coat” was in Evpatoria (354 rubles), and the lowest – in Biysk (122 rubles). The average cost of a ready-made salad in stores is 388.5 rubles per kilogram. Residents of Chelyabinsk will spend the least of all (188.3 rubles), and more than others – residents of St. Petersburg (1,857 rubles).

Earlier it became known that the price of Olivier salad skyrocketed by 6.8 percent in 2020, which is higher than the inflation rate. The price change was calculated for two kilograms of salad according to the classic Soviet recipe.
