Nutritionist explained swelling of Russians in New Year

During the New Year holidays, you can gain several kilograms of excess weight if you do not monitor your diet and do not engage in physical activity. Nutritionist and endocrinologist Alexei Kalinchev spoke about this in a comment to RT.

He explained that if the excess over the normal weight turns out to be more than 2-3 kilograms, then most likely it is not fat in itself, but edema. They are associated with the love of Russians for various pickles – fish, pickles, sauerkraut.

According to the doctor, such food contributes to the retention of fluid in the body, and the more fat a person has, the higher the likelihood of puffiness. Alcohol, which many also drink on New Year’s holidays, also gives swelling.

The specialist noted that such a weight will not last long if you start to lead a habitual lifestyle and balance your diet. However, he urged Russians not to abuse alcohol on New Year’s holidays, but rather spend time outdoors, if the weather permits, and play sports.

Earlier Marina Makisha, another dietitian, member of the National Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists told a> that mushrooms are the most suitable snack for alcohol. According to her, they contain chitosan, which is a good sorbent, which means it helps to reduce the dose of alcohol entering the body.

At the same time, gastroenterologist and nutritionist Nuria Dianova warned about possible dangers pickled cucumbers and mushrooms, spicy kimchi or Korean carrots as a snack. Foods can negatively affect the pancreas.
