Federation Council appreciated Zelensky’s desire to write about Crimea on sand in Yalta

Member of Federation Council for international affairs Sergei Tsekov called the desire of the President of Ukraine naivety Vladimir Zelenskiy write about the” Ukrainian Crimea “on the sand in Yalta. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti .

“You can be a naive person in life, but a naive president is a big trouble for the state,” the senator said. In his opinion, the current leadership of Ukraine is unable “to adequately perceive the international reality in which Crimea is an integral part of Russia.”

Tsekov added that the Crimeans have not identified themselves with Ukraine for a long time, since Russia is their only native state for them. “It is regrettable that Zelensky, instead of showing wisdom and congratulating the Crimeans on their successes in the development of Russian Crimea, continued to engage in populism and self-deception,” the senator concluded.

In his New Year’s address to citizens, Zelensky stated that he would like to write “Crimea – Ukraine” is not on the Internet, but on the sand in Yalta. After that, the head of state switched to Russian: “I know that Donetsk, Lugansk and Crimea now, in every sense of the word, live in a different time.”

Crimea was reunited with Russia after the March 2014 referendum, in which the majority of the residents of the peninsula who voted supported this decision. Kiev refused to recognize the results of the referendum. Russia insists that the accession procedure was in accordance with international law.
