Ukraine will refuse to purchase the Chinese vaccine from Sinovac Biotech if the effectiveness of the drug is below 70 percent, or if it does not pass registration. This was stated by the head of the state enterprise “Medical Procurement” Arsen Zhumadilov, reports LB.ua.
“If the requirements are not met, the money is returned. The bank guarantee mechanism means that this will happen essentially automatically, not through court,” he said.
Earlier it was reported that on the website of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky a petition appeared with a request to buy the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. Ukrainians demand to instill it on everyone.
About the conclusion of a contract for the supply of Chinese vaccine against coronavirus it became known earlier than 30 December. The president’s office said that they are talking about the purchase of 1.8 million doses at a price of 504 hryvnia apiece. The transaction amount is UAH 964 million (RUB 2.5 billion).
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the contract was signed with an experienced vaccine manufacturer, negotiations with other reliable manufacturers continue. The delivery is not related to the COVAX mechanism, according to which Ukraine is guaranteed to receive 8 million doses free of charge.
