Novak allowed start of supplies of petroleum products to Belarus through Russia

Belarus may start exporting its oil products through Russian ports as early as 2021. This was allowed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak in an interview RBK on Monday, January 4th.

“It is quite possible that in 2021 [Belarusians] can [supply] part of the volumes, taking into account the agreements and current issues that are being worked out between the companies. In my opinion, 2021 is a very realistic time frame when you can start.” , – said Novak.

The current President of Belarus announced the possibility of redirecting trade flows from the Baltic ports to Russia at the end of August Alexander Lukashenko . These words came after he and his associates came under sanctions for the situation around the presidential elections. The Baltic states did not recognize their results and supported massive protests.

At the same time, Lukashenko admits that the transit of goods through Russia will cost more, but he is counting on financial assistance from Russia, including in the construction of infrastructure. Moscow agreed to start negotiations on this issue, but no decisions have been made yet.
