Lukashenko calls coronavirus a geopolitical problem

The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called the coronavirus pandemic a geopolitical problem, BelTA informs.

“As I expected before the elections, the pandemic will result in major players on the world stage dividing the world. The pandemic has turned from a purely medical problem not just an economic one, but already a geopolitical one,” Lukashenko said at a meeting with the Prosecutor General of Belarus.

The head of state added that the coronavirus pandemic “has never been a medical problem,” and urged Belarusians to take this into account.

“In order not to fall into the millstones and they did not grind us over the coming year,” Lukashenko explained. “2021 will not be an easy year, we need to survive at all costs, preserve our sovereignty.”

In Belarus, for almost five months, mass protests have continued over the official results of the presidential elections, according to which Lukashenko, who ran for a sixth term, received 80 percent of the votes, and the main opposition candidate, the wife of the arrested blogger Svetlana Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent.

Lukashenka himself claimed that the West is behind what is happening and wants to destroy Belarus.
