The case is being investigated under the article on vandalism committed by a group of persons. The sanction of the article provides for restriction of freedom for up to three years, or forced labor, or imprisonment for the same period. The incident occurred on December 31. Two Azerbaijanis, having gathered at the Eternal Flame, began to drink beer there and gnaw seeds, throwing the husks into the fire. A local resident tried to drive them away, but they, according to the woman, ignored her and threatened “some kind of omnipotent uncle.” The Azerbaijani diaspora said that they had a tough conversation with the guilty and they realized their “dastardly act”, but the public apology recorded on camera did not help them avoid criminal prosecution.
