According to the expert, the experience of self-isolation acquired in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic made positive changes in the life of Russians. For example, families began to do things together more often, for example, cook or work with children. However, the inability to vent irritation outside the home leads to fights.

Tkhostov also noted the increased level of irritation of Russians on the eve of the New Year holidays. “New Year is one of the holidays that Russians love. People always hoped for it, made some plans. However, the outgoing year did not justify their hopes, and this affected the psychological well-being of people, they accumulated irritation,” the professor explained.

In addition, the psychological state of Russians is influenced by an unusual environment. Thus, citizens who are accustomed to celebrating the New Year on trips or away from relatives experience discomfort due to new circumstances.

Tkhostov advised Russians to control alcohol consumption during the New Year holidays in order to avoid conflicts. In his opinion, reading, sports and household chores can replace alcohol.
